GOVT. NIZAMIA GENERAL HOSPITAL, HYDERBAD

The Nizamia General Hospital, Hyderabad located at Charminar, Hyderabad in a beautiful Heritage Building, surrounded by Charminar and Macca Mosque. The building was constructed by VII Nizam and declared open on 1938 by Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, Asif Jah, attached to the Nizamia Tibbi College, Hyderabad.

Nizamia General Hospital is functioning under the control of Indian Medicine & Homeopathy Department, Govt of A.P., Since last 4 decades.

It was built by the H.E.H. Nizam, with the view \to cater the medical needs of the Old City people, but with high technical performance of the staff and increasing popularity and acceptance of Herbal Medicine and for particular treatment of paralysis. This institution got fame and nae not only in whole A.P., but throughout India. The patient comes to this institution from various states of India to take particulars of treatment.

This is patient pharmacy caters to the needs of patient admitted in various wards of this Hospital, the raw drugs required by this pharmacy is supplied by Govt. Indian Medicines Pharmacy, Kattedan from this raw drug this pharmacy prepares the compound Medicines which is specially for chronic disease as pe the prescription by the specialists’ doctors.

The Hospital is having separate wards and units for General Medicine, Gynaecology, Midwifery, Paediatrics, Pathology, Physiotherapy, Radiology, Sonography including fully equipped Operation Theatre. There is a separate unit, functioning as Out Patient Department for the ailing patient who do not require inpatient and they are treated in this department supplying Unani Medicine free of cost follow ups of inpatient cases are also taken in the Out Patient department. Diet and Unani Medicine are supply to the inpatient cases free of cost. There is a research department of Unani Functioning in the premises of Nizamia General Hospital since 1958., which is under control of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy Dept., the present research project is on Diabetes (Ziabates) and Arthritis (Waja-ul-Mafasil).
