It is one of the most important departments of Unani system of medicine.
The department consists of 2 units:
- Department of ENT
- Department of Ophthalmology
ENT DEPARTMENT:- The department of ENT has an Out-Patient unit, and the ENT subject is allocated for the final year students as per the NCISM norms.
Teaching methods: Regular theory and practical classes are conducted to the students and the allocated syllabus is taught to them. Various learning and teaching techniques are used to impact knowledge and improve the skills of the students.
Active learning techniques like demonstration of case studies, small group projects and seminars are conducted for the students to improve their knowledge and skills. During the practical classes demonstration and use of specific instruments is shown to the students.
WORK DONE AT OP [ENT]: On a daily basis, outpatient of ENT looks for cases and treat several cases on a large scale basis for the diseases like sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, DNS, Chronic Tonsillitis, Otorrhoea and Otalgia and patients are taken specific care and follow ups are maintained on regular basis.
DEPARTMENT OF OPHTHALMOLOGY:- The department has an outpatient unit with a separate block for visual screening, and ophthalmology syllabus is allocated for the final year students, as per the NCISM syllabus norms.
Teaching methods: Regular classes, both theory and practical, are conducted for the students and the assigned syllabus is taught to them.
Practical class deals with imparting knowledge, in the form of case study discussion, group discussions and knowledge about the ophthalmic instruments and their specific uses are imparted to the students. Various study methods like project works, seminars, brain storming sessions is implemented to impart knowledge among the students so that students develop active learning, communication and team work skills among the students.
WORK CARRIED AT OP: On a regular daily basis, a large scale of patients are screened for visual acuity test to detect several refractive errors. Retinoscopy examination is carried out, small procedures like foreign body removal is carried out, & other several ocular diseases are treated with Unani formulations.
