SURGERY DEPARTMENT: – The department of SURGERY has an Out-Patient unit, In-Patient Unit & OT Block. The surgery subject is allocated for the final year students as per the NCISM norms.
WORK DONE AT OPD [Surgery]:- On a daily basis, Outpatient of Surgery looks for cases and treat several cases on a large scale basis like Diabetic Foot, Nail bed infections, Non- Healing Ulcers, Lipoma, Osteoarthritis, Cervical Spondylitis, Lumbar Spondylitis, Antiseptic dressings, Soft Tissue Injuries and Minor Suturing. Patients are given specific care and follow ups are maintained on regular basis.
WORK DONE AT OT [Surgery]:- Currently, the UG Dept. of Surgery is performing minor surgical procedures like Ingrown Nail Removal, Circumcision, Lobuloplasty, Excision of Sebaceous Cyst, Benign Papilloma, Warts, Ganglion, Abscess Drainage, Vensection for Varicose Ulcer, Etc. All procedures are carried out with the Patient Consent and Aseptic Precautions.
WORK DONE AT IPD [Surgery]:- Cases are admitted in IP after the surgical procedure is completed in OT for observation and follow up dressings.
Teaching methods: – Faculty members of Department are actively engaged in teaching. This department imparts high quality teaching and training of all surgical procedures to the Undergraduates. The Students are well equipped with the subject through classroom teaching, teaching in OPD, and teaching of surgical procedures in OT, ward postings, case presentations, seminar presentations, project work and peripheral hospital postings in Tertiary level teaching hospitals. OPD, IPD and OT postings are allotted to students to improve their knowledge in the subject. IPD, IPD, and OT duties are carried out on regular basis. This is according to NCISM norms.
