The educational mission for the department is to cultivate future leaders in Medicine. P G Dept of Moalejat is one of the first established P G departments of this institute functioning since 1971. Moalijat is tantamount to General Medicine in contemporary medicine; it is a backbone of Unani Medicine which deals with patient care with holistic approach. The Moalijat specialty focuses on understanding the health and diseases of the human body with reference to the theories and concepts of Unani system of Medicine and management of all such ailments with its principles of treatment either by Ilaj Bil Dawa / and Ilaj Bit Tadbeer /and Ilaj bil Ghiza.
Department has set following objectives to execute at Post Graduate level:
- Teaching – sustaining the concepts and theories of Unani System of Medicine and understanding, interpreting and analyzing all such concepts with conventional sciences.
- Training – the main emphasis of training is on patient care. It focuses on the adoptability of all skilled techniques and procedures described in Unani literature and also the methods and procedures of conventional sciences for diagnosing and treatment.• Research – focuses to provide evidence on the treatments mentioned in Unani literature including pharmacopeias, and validation of all such evidence based observations in an integrated manner with the help of conventional tools.
Dept of Moalejat emphasized research in Post Graduation courses in the areas of Amraze Nizame Hazm, Amraze Nizame Aasab, Amraze Jild, Amraze Mafasil, Amraze Istehala and Amraze Nafsaniya.
OPD services: The OPD services are being provided to patients on weekdays from 9:00 am and finished when all patients are seen. Patients with all communicable and non-communicable diseases are seen here. Minor procedures like Hijama, Leech Therapy and other regiminal procedures are done in OPD under all sterile conditions.
IPD services: Apart from general ward number 2 we are permitted to admit the patients in other general wards . We are a specialized Stroke Unit. The department is doing all kinds procedures including Hijama( Cupping), Leeching etc.,
Health awareness activities: Department is actively involved delivering Public Lectures.
CME / Workshop/ Conference: The Department has conducted number of workshops, CME and Discussions.

Future plans: In the field of medical education the department plans to start these short courses:
- Workshop for RMOs, GPs for management of Acute Emergencies with Unani System of medicines
- Conducting courses on Hijama.
- ACLS training centre for PG’s in collaboration with Specialised Institutes.
In the field of patient care:
- Improving the quality and satisfaction of patient care by understanding population and patient medical health care needs and developing quality and sustainable medical care delivery models.
- To start a dedicated unit/division for Geriatric patients. This unit will look after the health needs of this vulnerable group. There will be dedicated clinics for a) Comprehensive Geriatric Care b) Hypertensive Clinic for Elderly c) Stroke Care e) Pain clinic
3.To start a dedicated unit/division for patients suffering from Rheumatic Diseases. This unit will look after the patients suffering from various Connective Tissue Disorders.
There will be dedicated clinics for a) RA b) SLE c) Sondyloarthritis d) Scleroderma clinic
4.To start a dedicated unit/division for patients with
various lifestyle related diseases.
