TAHAFFUZI-WA-SAMAJI TIB

This department   was established as department of  hifzan e sehat since the establishment of this college i.e 1938  but with growing concern of social factors in the causation  as well as in preventing diseases, it was renamed in 2006 as  department of Tahaffuzi-wa-samaji tib . Department of TST is a part of faculty of unani medicine, the department is imparting health education at U.G   level from the day of its inception P.G department of Tahafuzi wa Samaj Tib  established in the Govt. Nizamia Tibbi College, Hyderabad in the academic year 2008-09 with (5) PG Medical scholars intake capacity including AIQ (All India Quota).  And from the academic year 2020-21 intake capacity of PG Medical scholars have been increased to 7 including AIQ (All India Quota), with the objectives of developing skilled and motivated public health professionals, this department is imparting high quality teaching and training at post graduate level. Till now , the department on academic platform has endorsed  50 research scholars to whom post graduate degree has been awarded , at  present 26 research scholars are enthusiastically pursing the P G course.

This department is dedicated to promoting health across the lifespan of people and in all segments of population, through research, education and training community outreach services and health promotion campaigns. Department on regular basis organizes health awareness programs, health Camps, for school children and for vulnerable population of society to provide promote preventive health care services to the community

This department is deeply committed to train the generation of leader in public health through  class room instruction ,  lectures, seminars, group discussion , journal clubs,  peripheral postings at fever hospital and institute of preventive medicine Hyderabad,  field surveys, statistical analysis participating in pulse polio campaigns , community health related programmes, visits to water filter bed, organic farms ,industrial companies, old age homes and  by organizing  symposium , nutritional exhibition,  from time to time .Apart from this department is also providing services to the community throughout patient unit in GNGH

The department is covering the subject of epidemiology, nutrition, environment, pollution, communicable and non-communicable diseases , demography , maternal and child health , family planning , neonatal care, vaccination , geriatric , occupational health , disaster management , mental health , regimental therapies.

Major focus of the department is harnessing the potential of Unani system of medicine in preventive health care services through literary research , nutritional epidemiology , pharmaco epidemiology , risk factor  trial , preventive trials.

Department is also maintaining seminar library having reference and textbooks around 100 on the subject of T S T. Computers, printers, wifi audio visual facilities projector for the purpose of audio visual learning

The department has public health museum with necessary collection of models, chart flex print , it has essential equipments for nutritional assessment

Department is planning for establishing vaccination centre , biomedical waste unit , public health laboratory, in hospital with a hope that it will prove beneficial for development of institution.   and it is consistently working towards discovering of new knowledge in domain of public health , and is eminently geared for its forward journey towards academic excellence  and publications

This department also imparting education of Tibb e Qanooni wa ilm ul Sumoom {forensic medicine and toxicology} at U. G level which is covering illustrative knowledge on the subject anthropology forensic thanatology, all sorts of injuries violent deaths and toxicology.

f.mt section of the department has a separate museum with huge collection of charts flex models, animal, plant origin and chemical poisons, posting in mortuary of Osmania general hospital ,  medico legal case writings
